Multiple Credit Card Support

Sometimes you’re buying lunch for everyone in the office, and sometimes you’re buying dinner for yourself. Wouldn’t it be nice to have multiple credit cards saved in Get It Now? Wouldn’t it be even better to never re-enter your credit card again?

We thought so, too.

Introducing multiple credit card support! With this feature, you can enter as many credit cards as you need and create your own Card Label to help you distinguish between them.

New Detail View During Your Delivery

We’ve also made the experience of watching your Postmate pick-up and deliver your order even better.

Click the information icon at the top right corner and get important details on your delivery. This view shows you more information about your courier (their ratings, their number of deliveries), all of the items in your order, a button to call the Postmates customer service helpline and a quick way to cancel your order.

Always Getting Better

We’re committed to making your Get It Now experience better and better every day. We love delivering you happiness, and this is just one step in that direction.

Make sure to update your Postmates Get It Now app in the App Store today.  Btw, you can send us feedback, ideas and questions at any time. Just shoot us a note at support@postmates.com.

You asked, we delivered. You can now enjoy Get It Now in Seattle Also, check out a few press snippets about our launch below:

Postmates’ mobile app connects its fleet of couriers with customers in Seattle, offering access to local inventory from the Apple Store, Nordstrom, Red Mill Burgers, Serious

Pie, Walgreens and virtually anywhere else. Postmates equips each courier with a credit card, enabling them to purchase goods on behalf of its customers.

“We want to understand local inventory the same way Amazon understands the inventory in a warehouse,” explained Bastian Lehmann, CEO and cofounder of Postmates. “By capturing and surfacing local inventory, Postmates seeks to radically change the way people purchase local goods. ”

The startup first launched the one hour delivery service in San Francisco in May 2012. Since then, Postmates has delivered over 130,000 items from over 6,000 restaurants and stores, including exclusively powering Whole Foods deliveries throughout the city.

Postmates currently has nearly 200 couriers in San Francisco and just over 40 in Seattle. Couriers make deliveries using their own bikes, cars, trucks, scooters and motorcycles.

The company has also just recently announced a startup discount program for startups downtown and in surrounding neighborhoods. Service is limited but will continue to expand over the next few months. Postmates has an Operations team in Seattle and will soon be opening an office in Pioneer Square.

“It’s important for us to understand this city and the customers we have here,” explained Lehmann. “You cannot run a successful operation without extensive knowledge of a market. Our team has spent months living and working in every neighborhood in Seattle.

And thanks to our friends at Geekwire, EATSEATTLE, San Francisco Chronicle and others…

Happy Pi Day!

It’s π Day, folks!

We take pride in our geekiness here on the West Coast. We spend our days in front of our computers, we attend the hundreds of tech events and many of us can find ourselves somewhere on this flowchart.

That’s why thousands of us are celebrating one of the most beautiful and confounding numbers in mathematical history: Pi or 3.14. Pi is the number you get when you calculate the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter. It continues into an infinite string of decimal places, but we typically round it off to just 3.14. That brings us to today, March 14!

But, how does one celebrate Pi Day?

Outside of completing a Rubick’s Cube, hula hooping while simultaneously reciting the numbers of Pi, the second best way to celebrate is to well… Eat Pi(e)! See below for our favorite pie places in San Francisco and Seattle.

For the geeks out there, enjoy 3.14% OFF all deliveries today!

Mission Pie

image
Over 800 reviews and 4 stars on Yelp, Mission Pie is a clear Mission favorite. You could order practically anything, but the banana cream and pear raspberry pies seem to be a big favorite.

Update: You guys work fast! Mission Pie is now all out of pie. Maybe Whole Foods?

Pie

image
Pie in the Queen Anne district of Seattle is there for any and every pie wish. Try their savory pies (Peppered Steak & Potato or Veggie Pot Pie) or their sweet (Strawberry Rhubarb or Peach Raspberry) to take care of your pie needs.

Enjoy π day!

The moment our team heard about the Mr. Marina contest, we knew we had to be involved!

Tomorrow, Wednesday March 20th, our Postmates will help the attendees, judges and (of course!) contestants of the Mr. Marina contest get ready for the grand affair in style.

We’re giving away one FREE delivery to every attendee. So from the last minute body spray before the event to the much needed late night burrito afterward, we’re here to handle your Mr. Marina contest needs.

The Mr. Marina competition is hosted by the Slap Cancer organization led by young professionals fundraising and building awareness for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

So who will win Mr. Marina? We’ll let the folks at Slap Cancer explain themselves:

We’re searching for the male specimen who most embodies the spirit of San Francisco’s Marina District: social, fun-loving, generous, manly… and it doesn’t hurt if he enjoys wearing pastel colors from time to time. Mr. Marina doesn’t necessarily need to live in the 94123, but he does have to embody the neighborhood values.

Join us tomorrow night! Feel free to RSVP here:

Tom Collom and his partner Burce Slesinger, have long dreamt...

Tom Collom and his partner Burce Slesinger, have long dreamt about being in the food business. Architects by training, they have created retail and franchise stores for clients such as Esprit, Adidas and many more all over the world.

Eventually, their passion for wine bars, great cafe’s serving the best coffee, cool convenient stores and delicatessen took over, bouncing ideas off their friends about combining these interesting foods concepts, bringing them together in a single location.

Tom remembers the initial reaction of their friends and family: “Everyone said we were crazy. We were so scattered they said. They felt we were unfocused and recommended to take one of these ideas and do a good job at it. But we decided that’s too boring!

Today, Tom’s and Bruce’s vision and concept is a reality - Small Foods in San Francisco. Located in a 2,500 square feet 1900’s brick warehouse building on 522 2nd Street in San Francisco’s Soma neighborhood, Small Foods is offering locally produced, healthy and convenient food and beverages in an inspiring store setting with a combined cafe.

After a few months of operation, the Small Foods team began exploring the possibility of home deliveries and decided to work with Postmates for their deliveries in San Francisco.

Tom believes the concept behind Postmates to be incredible. The idea to have a full snapshot of their inventory on an easy to manage platform with a one hour delivery service, allowing a small merchant to offer the same service quality as many big box retailers, was exactly what the team was looking for.

In Tom’s own words: “What’s not great about that?”

Delicatus was founded on the simple concept that people in the greater Seattle area deserve a better sandwich. They meld local and European tradition by using mainly Northwest-sourced ingredients purchased directly from local farmers. There are over 25 sandwiches to choose from!

In case you’re curious, here are our favorites: Ayako, our Seattle Community Manager, loves Mudd Honey– Roast beef, turkey, Zoe’s slab bacon, white cheddar, horseradish aioli, house BBQ on a toasted italian roll. Mike, our Seattle Operations Managers, loves The Fire of 1889– Spicy braised pork, jalapeño-lime aioli, shredded cabbage, shaved and pickled red onions, hot peppers, cilantro on a toasted italian roll.

If you’ve been in during lunch you know their sandwiches are in demand. People line up and patiently wait for their pick of the day… unless your order through Postmates. Not only will a Postmates bring you your sandwich in under an hour, we have PRIORITY status with our friends at Delicatus. This means that orders through Postmates are bumped up to the front and couriers get to cut to the front of the line when paying. We want you to get you your sandwich faster than we can say Delicatus 10x! Go ahead, try us out. You’ll find that their well deserved line is not a problem for you.

Happy eating,

Postmates Seattle

Openness & Transparency in Seattle

$
0
0

At Postmates, we are building a thriving community of customers and couriers around a marketplace for deliveries. Customers who want an item delivered get matched with trustworthy couriers who have the ability to deliver this item. Trust and safety are at the core of our community.

In order to ensure safety of both customers and couriers, we implement a wide array of safety mechanisms. From fraud warnings to protect couriers from wrongful purchases and thorough background checks of couriers joining the platform to protect customers.

A key feature of the platform is that it’s entirely open and transparent. Courier profiles feature a photo that is visible next to their complete full name at all times.

This transparency enabled a customer of ours in Seattle to Google the full name of a courier, discover that this courier had a criminal record and report this information to our team.

Postmates couriers are required to have and maintain a clear criminal record. Due to a human error in the processing of this courier’s background check, however, the courier was granted access to the platform. Within 30 minutes of learning this information from the customer, we revoked the courier’s access to the Postmates platform.

These series of events were only possible because of the foundation of openness and transparency in place on the platform. Customers receive real information about real people that are handling their delivery. In this specific case a customer used this transparency to improve the platform for everyone.

The operations team member responsible for this oversight is no longer in a position to make these decisions within the company and we have increased the protocol for the approval of background checks. This process now requires two operations team members to mark a candidate positive.

While we are disappointed that we made an error in something as important as background check screening, we understand that there is no such thing as 100% security. We will continue to improve features that enable trust and safety on our platform. Part of being open and transparent as a platform is being open and transparent about the incidents of when our security measures have failed.
